Disciplinary Committee announces penalties after salon draw between Westerlo and Genk: De Mil and Vrancken get off well, players much less – Football News

The Disciplinary Committee of the KBVB has ruled on the salon draw in Westerlo-Genk, when both teams completed the last minutes by passing the ball around. Rik De Mil and Wouter Vrancken get off with a warning.

Nicolas Madsen (Westerlo) and Joris Kayembe (Genk) have each been sentenced to two effective suspension days and a fine of 2,000 euros in the case of the match between Westerlo and Genk.

It all happened in the last game of the regular season. In the final phase, Genk was assured of its place in the Champions’ Play-offs and Westerlo was assured of retention. The players refused to continue playing football and the Genk defenders could simply pass the ball around.

Madsen and Kayembe even passed to each other. Both clubs must pay a fine of 7,500 euros. The respective coaches Wouter Vrancken (Genk) and Rik De Mil (Westerlo) receive a warning.

As well as Westerlo goalkeeper Sinan Bolat and Genk midfielder Bryan Heynen. All others involved are acquitted. However, the federal public prosecutor’s office had demanded a fine for all players.

Nicolas Madsen (Westerlo) and Joris Kayembe (Genk) have been punished for their infamous “one-two” in which both players passed the ball to each other without opposition. They are suspended from April 19.
