Mexico Shines at Trisome Games: Winning Medals in Athletics, Gymnastics, and Futsal

At the Trisome Games, a world competition for athletes with Down Syndrome, Mexico won medals in athletics, gymnastics and futsal.

The Trisome Games are an Olympics for people with Down syndrome held every 4 years.

The Mexican Bárbara Wetzel won the floor, vault and uneven bars events at the Sixth World Artistic Gymnastics Championships for Women with Down Syndrome in Antalya, Türkiye.

In Vaulting, Mexico took the podium in first place followed by Lithuania and tied for third place with the competitors from Italy and Lithuania again.

The gold medal on uneven bars represented Bibi’s first medal in this modality. The second place is Russia and the third for Lithuania.

With these triumphs equaled what was done in 2023 in South Africa, edition in which he won a total of five medals.

Bronce and Futsal

The Mexican Futsal Down Team won the bronze medal at the World Trisome Games in Antalya, Turkey.

In the match for third place, Mexico defeated Italy 7-5.

During the competition, Mexico lost to Brazil and Turkey, and won against Portugal and Italy.

While In athletics, for the first time, Mexico closed in second place overall of the competition

In the 2024 edition held in Antalya, Türkiye Athletes from 30 countries participated in sports such as athletics, basketball, futsal, judo, table tennis, tennis, swimming and gymnastics.
