Mexican Archer Wins Silver Medal at Archery World Cup in Hermosillo

MEXICO CITY (apro).- The Mexican archer took second place in the Archery World Cup.

Mexican archer Alejandra Valencia won the silver medal in the grand final of the women’s recurve category after losing to Kang Chae Young. The South Korean won 6-2 and won the gold medal in the World Cup that took place in Hermosillo, Sonora, before more than 10,000 fans who gathered at the venue.

The grand final was played with a temperature of 40 degrees and wind gusts of 40 kilometers per hour, which caused some of the arrows from Sonora to have low scores. For her part, Chae Young was the one who adapted the best to the weather condition and took the victory.

The event, which brought together the 32 best archers in the world, culminated with two medals for Mexico, the silver for Alejandra Valencia Trujillo and a bronze, achieved by Dafne Valeria Quintero García.

Quintero won bronze in the Women’s Compound Bow category, the Mexican fell in the semifinals to Tanja Gellenthien of Denmark by 144-147, and in the duel for third place she defeated the representative of South Korea, Cho Su A, 144-142.
