Dangerous fall of Anze Laniska in Planica. Great Peter Prevc, Kamil Stoch the best of Poles in Planica

On Friday afternoon, Dawid Kubacki was the first Pole to appear on the starting beam. However, it did not reach the construction point – it landed at 197 meters and in the end it was not enough to advance to the second competition series. Fortunately, Piotr Żyła performed better, whose jump of 211.5 meters allowed him to take 21st place. Immediately after Żyła’s attempt, Anze Lanisek, who was returning from injury, suffered a serious fall as he glided high above the landing zone and was unable to land.

Kamil Stoch was in 14th place after the first attempt at 213 meters, and Aleksander Zniszczoł did even better. The leader of the Polish team soared to 221.5 meters, which gave him seventh place jointly with Stefan Kraft. The leader was Daniel Huber (232 m), followed by Peter Prevc (237.5 m) and Timi Zajc (227.5 m). Noriaki Kasai entered the second series immediately after the disqualification of Manuel Fettner, giving him 30th place.

In the second part, the 51-year-old Japanese started with a 205-meter flight and finished the individual season in 29th place. The first of the White and Reds, Piotr Żyła, achieved the same distance, which meant that after the second attempt he dropped to 24th place. Most of the next competitors flew much further, including Kamil Stoch, who achieved 218.5 meters. After a nice, 252nd flight beyond the 200-meter mark in his career, he moved up to 10th place. Thus, he achieved the best result this season. Aleksander Zniszczoł experienced very poor wind conditions and achieved only 207.5 meters, which dropped him to 14th place.

The competition was won by Peter Prevc, for whom it was the penultimate competition in his entire career. The Slovenian landed on the 231st meter and overtook Daniel Hubert and Johan Andre Forfang on the podium.
