Before becoming head coach, Mosley gained 15 years of experience as an assistant coach with the Nuggets, Cavaliers and most recently Mavericks under Rick Carlisle. He took over the Magic after the shortened Corona season with 21 wins and 51 defeats under Steve Clifford. Orlando got off to an excellent start to the season and is currently in fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
The Magic have one of the youngest cores in the league with Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero at the helm, their identity is length and variability, which has already led to success at the highest level, especially defensively. Orlando currently has the fourth-best defense rating of the season, the last time they did that in an entire year was 2009/10. No other team has held its opponents under 100 points more often this season – 18 times.
