World number one Iga Świątek fared better, defeating Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan 6:1, 6:2 and easily reaching the quarter-finals against Caroline Wozniacki. The Dane defeated Angelique Kerber in the “mother duel” 6:4 and 6:2.
