The last competition held at the “Karol Wojtyla” Sports Hall in Martina Franca (TA) is coming to an end, with a decidedly positive outcome, characterized by the “Qualification for the Italian Junior A2 Championship 2024” and the “Grand Prix Judo Puglia Beginners A and B”.
An intense and emotional day, with around 300 participants and over 1000 spectators, which saw Judo Trani as the protagonist, together with 50 other sports clubs from Puglia, Calabria and Basilicata.
The technicians Nicola Loprieno, Michele Napolitano and Leonardo Occhionorelli, with 4 athletes, including 3 in the men’s Ex. A and 1 in the women’s Ex. B, managed to bring home results that give rise to hope:
Antonio Occhionorelli confirmed himself as champion of his category with 6 matches out of 6, all won by ippon, which allowed him to win the gold medal;
Samuele Di Leo and Carlo Merafina played a good tournament, both winning two matches and losing respectively the semi-finals, confident that this result is a good omen for the next federal commitments;
Capriati Samuela is unable to confirm the skills demonstrated in previous races, stopping at the second match, but declares herself ready to give her best in the next events.
As usual, upon returning from a competition always with important results, the Coach Nicola Loprieno is proud of the result achieved, and thanks can only go to all the athletes who participated in the competition, to all the kids who, on a daily basis, offer its fundamental contribution so that these results can be achieved, to the parents with their constant support, and to the entire large Judo Trani family.
The next federal commitment on the calendar, the Italian U15 freestyle Olympic wrestling championship scheduled for 16 and 17 March 2024 at the Pala Pellicone in Ostia (RM), will see 9 athletes involved, always with the strength and determination that only a great goal of sporting life can give.
