The Rise and Fall of Tennis Star Boris Becker: From the Court to the Mobile Home Park

There was a time when smartphones and tablets were considered science fiction at best. Tennis games served as a media pastime, almost unthinkable today, from the second half of the 80s to the end of the 90s. Hour after hour, millions of Germans of all ages watched as two – or four in doubles games – men or women hit each other with the yellow felt balls. This boom was triggered by Boris, known as “Boom-Bomm-Boris”, Becker. Things never went quiet for him after his career ended in 1999 – including bankruptcy and a sentence of two and a half years in prison. On Saturday, May 25th, Becker will be in Bad Honnef. However, not on a tennis court, but in the mobile home park in Rottbitze.
