Violent Brawl Leads to Double Defeat, Heavy Fines, and Long Suspensions in Second Category Match

Double defeat, very high fines and long suspensions for Fiumanese and Godo, protagonists last Sunday of a very stormy final match in group N of the Second category. Sanction of exactly 8 months to Fiumanese manager Marco Silvagni, 600 euro fine to the club and game lost 0-3 by default (on the pitch, the Predappiesi were leading 2-1 in the 37th minute of the second half, at the time of the suspension) .

Heavy verdicts also for Godo: Russi’s team also lost the match 0-3, a 400 euro fine and disqualification until June 30 for the player involved, Brane Diop.

The reconstruction of the facts by the lawyer Giacomo Valgimigli, sports judge of the Ravenna delegation who then stigmatized the events that occurred was very clear and detailed: “The sports judge, having read the referee’s report of the Fiumanese-Godo match, suspended following the explosion of a violent brawl between the two teams which also saw the participation of the managers of the two clubs”. Some of the episodes already leaked are thus substantiated in black and white. The spark is traced back to the moment in which “the player Brane Diop of the Ac Godo club left the ground, following the substitution, and headed towards the changing rooms. There, in the area opposite, he met Mr Marco Silvagni, official manager of the Fiumanese club, which led to an altercation. In the aforementioned situation, the Fiumanese manager held a baseball bat and threatened to use it against the opposing player, who reacted by grabbing a chair”. The report explicitly says that at that point “a Wild West brawl broke out, in which all the members of the two teams joined, including the managers”. The judge considered Silvagni’s behavior “more serious”, while that of the player from Ravenna was “a reaction, however deplorable”. The verdict praises the behavior of the very young race director.
