Shortly after his son Max’s victory in the first Formula 1 race of the season in Bahrain, Jos Verstappen called on Red Bull to part ways with team boss Christian Horner. His motives are puzzling.

The first race of the Formula 1 season was over a few hours later, in Bahrain it was being dismantled, and Verstappen let it rip. “It will explode,” said the Dutchman: “There will be tensions here as long as he stays in his position.” Verstappen spoke of Christian Horner, the team boss of Red Bull Racing.

He followed up with smack: “The team is in danger of being torn apart. Things can’t go on as before.” And concluded with a catch: “He’s playing the victim, even though he’s the one causing the problems.”
