Alex Kroes announces provisional successor to Sven Mislintat at Ajax

Alex Kroes will also act as technical director of Ajax during the coming summer transfer period, the new general manager of the Amsterdam team announced on Monday evening in an interview with Ziggo Sports.

Kroes talks to Ziggo, the main sponsor of Ajax, heard from him for the first time after his official start with the Amsterdam team. In conversation with the pay channel, Edwin van der Sar’s successor at Ajax immediately provided clarity about the succession of technical director Sven Mislintat at Ajax, who was fired from the Amsterdam team at the beginning of this season after the disappointing results in the Eredivisie. Kelvin de Lang temporarily took over the honors during the winter break as ultimately responsible for Ajax’s policy on the transfer market.

“At the moment all eyes are on me, that’s how it is. I will take full responsibility. This summer period I will take all responsibility,” Kroes is clear. He will look into the transfers, but emphasizes that he will be supported by various people within Ajax: “I am not going to do that alone, but I cannot do that alone either,” the policymaker indicates.

In Rondo’s broadcast it is noted that the same situation arises at Ajax as it did years ago, when Van der Sar took over the duties as technical director from Marc Overmars and did not immediately appoint a replacement: “Isn’t it wise to hire a good man for this? to ask?” Youri Mulder wonders out loud after the interview.
