Tommy Paul has digested the disappointment of the Australian Open well. The American, who dreamed of achieving a course identical to 2023 in Melbourne where he had reached the last four, could not do better than a disappointing 3rd round (beaten by the Serbian M.Kecmanovic), losing big points in the ATP ranking. The 14th player in the world has therefore opted for a return home and tournaments in his country which will take him to the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami next March. Present in Texas last week, Tommy Paul did not disappoint his fans by winning the Dallas tournament and only conceding one set during the week. Good form which will make him one of the big favorites from Thursday at the Delray Beach tournament. For this first round in Florida, Tommy Paul will face a compatriot, namely Alex Michelsen. A new nugget of American tennis, the young 19-year-old prodigy is already part of the world’s top 100 (75th) and is progressing step by step. Author of a good Australian Open with a 3rd round (best career Grand Slam result), Alex Michelsen must now be more consistent in his results. Present in Dallas last week, the young American lost in the second round against Frances Tiafoe, 15th player in the world. But the experience continues to be gained for the one who represents the future of tennis at Uncle Sam with Ben Shelton and this confrontation against Tommy Paul will only be positive with a confrontation against a top world level player.
