Jared Goff Signs Lucrative Contract Extension with Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff reportedly signed a very lucrative contract extension on Monday.

According to the ESPN network, the 29-year-old veteran has signed a new four-year, $212 million deal, of which $170 million is guaranteed. He would therefore have a contract valid until the conclusion of the 2027 season.

Goff would thus become the highest paid player in Lions history and the second quarterback with the highest annual salary ($53 million) after Cincinnati Bengals pivot Joe Burrow ($55 million).

In 2021, the Detroit organization acquired Goff, along with two first-round picks and a third-round selection from the Los Angeles Rams for quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Goff is coming off one of his best career seasons. In 17 games in 2023, he completed 67.3% of the passes he attempted for 4,575 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Selected with the first overall pick in the 2016 draft, Goff played the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Rams.
