Knicks’ Mitchell Robinson Undergoes Ankle Surgery, Out for Playoffs: Sources

Sources revealed to ESPN that Mitchell Robinson underwent ankle surgery on Monday and will be re-evaluated in about six weeks.

NEW YORK — The center of New York Knicks, Mitchell Robinsonunderwent surgery on his left ankle this Mondayhis second ankle procedure this season, league sources revealed to ESPN.

It was already considered that Robinson would be out for the rest of the playoffs after images found a stress reaction after the Jgame 1 of the Knicks series against the Indiana Pacers last week. After consulting with doctors, it was decided that he needed the procedure. You will be reevaluated in 6 to 8 weeks.

Robinson initially it was returned to injure the ankle in the first round series against the Philadelphia 76ers. He missed Game 4 of that series to deal with the injury, but rHe left for three more games before of being forced to suspend it.

Robinson underwent surgery for a stress fracture in December and missed 50 games, returning in March with only 11 games left in the season. He averaged 5.6 points and 8.5 rebounds in 31 regular season games.

Knicks play Pacers in Game 5 of their series 2-2 on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.
