Relax on the Couch and Catch Up on the Drama: A Recap of the 2021 F1 Season

While the teams are already diligently testing the new technology in Bahrain and setting hundreds of fast laps, you can relax on the couch on the weekend, turn on Netflix and watch all ten hour-long episodes in one go. And what can you look forward to in them?

Well, unfortunately not for an even fight for the throne of the king of F1, because Max Verstappen at Red Bull had it relatively easy last year – after all, he won 19 of the total 22 races (two victories were thrown in by teammate Sergio Pérez) and he and his team took the championship titles very comfortably.

But it was carving behind him, so we will learn something about the fantastic start (and slow decline) of Aston Martin and, conversely, about the gradual miraculous acceleration of McLaren. We’ll find out what the mood was like at Mercedes, who have struggled for a second season in a row (and we already know how it will end), and see how new boss Fred Vasseur has improved the organization and boosted morale at Scuderia Ferrari.

And the tail of the starting field did not escape attention either, where Williams was doing surprisingly well and, on the contrary, the train was increasingly passing Haas, which cost Günther Steiner’s much-loved boss a place in the final reckoning.

In short, even though the F1 champion was decided after the first few races, the rest of the season was still something to watch and a whole series of dramas took place on and off the track that you should not miss. So turn on Netflix and enjoy a quick run through last year’s F1 season, which will surely entice you to watch the upcoming one.
