Sergio “Chiquito” Romero has everything agreed to continue in Boca until December 2025. The experienced goalkeeper was one of the club’s priorities and, although he had the contract to renew on the table, after a few days he finally made the decision to continue wearing the blue and gold diver.
In a dialogue with Desde La Boca, the official magazine of Xeneize, Romero anticipated: “There are things here that are very good and I don’t know if we value them enough. For example, on the issue of health: the care and treatment of doctors are difficult to see elsewhere.”
Along the same lines, Chiquito recalled his arrival at the institution and highlighted: “I arrived in full recovery from an injury and they treated me wonderfully, without rushing me, respecting my times. Dr. Jorge Batista is a phenomenon. Before the 2018 World Cup I had I had to have surgery and I did it abroad. I was wrong: I should have done it here. And he closed: “I have played more than 60 games here in just over 15 months. I don’t think I have played that amount in the previous five years. And I enjoy it.”
It should be remembered that Chiquito Romero arrived at Boca in 2022 and in silence, after a stint in Venezia, Italy. He got physically fit and just a few games were enough for him to be one of the team’s indispensable pieces.
