On the last day of Eccellenza Marche Tolentino was beaten by Montefano 1-0. At the “Della Vittoria” the match was decided by a goal by Postacchiniarrived though in a clear offside position. Before the Montefano player’s winning touch, a purple player had received the ball and found himself beyond the crimson goalkeeper. However, the assistant did not raise his flag and the goal was still awarded to Montefano.
The refereeing error seemed rather gross and obviously generated controversy in the Tolentino household. The same Mister Possanzinisent off for protests following Postacchini’s goal, declared in post-match interviews:
“The images speak clearly: the goal does not exist. Every Sunday we are here talking about the usual mistakes but things don’t change. I congratulate the opponent but the referee’s behavior is unacceptable.”
Sunday’s mistake also caused disappointment president Marco Romagnoli. The crimson patron intervened on the matter by commenting:
“There are teams that have made important investments. Leaving everything in the hands of poorly trained personnel is not good for football or for referees, who are an essential part of football itself. I believe that those who ‘administer’ the referee sections must ensure that they improve the training and preparation of the referees”.
The defeat against Montefano leaves a very bitter taste in the crimson home team, with Possanzini’s team now with just one point in the playout zone. The overtaking in the rankings byOsimawhich will host Tolentino at the Diana on Sunday, on the twenty-second day of Eccellenza Marche.
