Naomi Osaka has already experienced more than most people do in a lifetime. Born in Osaka, she came to the US East Coast at the age of three because her Japanese mother was rejected by the family because she married a dark-skinned Haitian man. Her father encouraged her to play tennis, even though the family lived in modest circumstances. She took the sport by storm.
