We usually say that France has 67 million coaches, each with their own opinion on the players who should represent the Blues. But in the end, it is Didier Deschamps who decides. This Thursday, the coach of the France team will officially announce the players selected to play in Euro 2024.
Before even knowing who will make the team, it remains to be decided on the number of players who will fly to Germany this summer. Each nation is authorized to present a list of 26 players at the Euro. But nothing obliges Didier Deschamps to take a larger group, he who preferred to select “only” 25 Tricolores during the last World Cup.
To compose his list, the French coach will have to face a few glitches, such as the withdrawal of Lucas Hernandez, or the uncertainty around Aurélien Tchouaméni or Kingsley Coman. Randal Kolo Muani’s difficult season and the emergence of Bradley Barcola also complicate the coach’s choices.
Between 23 and 26 names will therefore be revealed by Didier Deschamps, to play, at least, three group matches against Austria, the Netherlands and Poland. Before the Euro, which will take place from June 14 to July 14, the Blues will first meet Luxembourg and Canada for two preparation matches, on June 5 and 9.
Didier Deschamps will reveal the list of players selected to play Euro 2024 with the France team this Thursday, May 16. The coach will make his announcement live on the 8 p.m. television news on TF 1.
