Inside Look: Young Tennis Phenom Joel Schwärzler in ITF Series ‘Day in the Life’

The youngster gives more detailed insights into everyday training and life in the new ITF series “Day in the Life”.

Joel Schwärzler has been an ÖTV contract player since September 2021 and as such trains under the direction of ÖTV sports director and Davis Cup captain Jürgen Melzer. A collaboration that has borne ever greater fruit over its more than two and a half years, culminating in triumphs at the Osaka Mayor’s Cup (ITF J500) and the ITF Junior Finals in Chengdu at the end of 2023. Successes that made the young Vorarlberger number one in the youth world rankings at the beginning of 2024. In the meantime, the 18-year-old has already recorded his first five ATP Challenger main draw victories, with quarterfinals in Tallahassee (USA) and last week at the home game in Mauthausen.

All of these remarkable achievements would certainly not be possible without the daily, hard work in the ÖTV Südstadt performance center, with Melzer, ÖTV fitness trainer Philipp Wessely, sports scientist Marcus Scharner and his entire team. So the likeable Harder, with his highly professional support, grew step by step into one of the largest international tennis stocks of the future. Reason enough for the ITF to open the new YouTube video series called “Day in the Life” with Schwärzler. In it, the ÖTV youngster gives more detailed, exciting insights into his well-planned training routine and his life outside of it.
