Green Bay Packers Part Ways with Defensive Coordinator Joe Barry After Disappointing Season

Joe Barry, it’s over.

NFL Media announces that the Packers defensive coordinator will not be back for another season in 2024.

Green Bay’s defense finished the 2023 regular season in 17th place in yards allowed and 10th in points allowed. Performances in line with previous seasons. The Packers were 17th in both points and yards conceded in 2022. In 2021, they were 13th in points and 9th in yards.

There was improvement during the playoff victory against the Cowboys and when Green Bay upset the 49ers, but it was not enough to save Joe Barry.

No progress and big slaps

The defense led by 53-year-old Joe Barry had eight first-round picks in its ranks. However, the last few seasons have been punctuated by some humiliations.

In 2022, the Eagles have rushed for 363 yards on Green Bay’s defense. This year, Baker Mayfield turned in a perfect scorecard against them, and even Carolina looked like an efficient offense for a night.

Green Bay is therefore embarking on the search for a new strong man for its defense.
