During the night the double blue conquered the finale of the slam, beating the Germans Yannick Hanfmann-Dominik Koepfer 6-3 3-6 7-6(5), who are not two professional doubles players but two solid singles players.
For Bolelli it is the second time in a slam final, the first was with Fognini in 2015 in Melbourne. It ended with the victory of the Azzurri. To find another Italian couple in a slam final you have to go back to the 1959 Roland Garros with Nicola Pietrangeli and Orlando Sirola. Even then it was a success. There’s no two without three?
