Seven Series: Les Bleues fail in the final of the Cape Town stage against Australia

The Blues believed in it until the end but they paid for their catastrophic start to the match. Australia attacked the final of the Seven Series stage in Cape Town (South Africa) on Sunday, scoring four tries against the French team.

Trailing 22-0, the Blues reacted thanks to a double from Anne-Cécile Ciofani just before the break (22-14) with the hope of coming back since the Australians found themselves outnumbered after the red card given to Maddison Levi for a dangerous charge.

The French came back to three points with a third try from Carla Neisen. But as they pushed, they gave in to a counter from Shave which gave the Australians some breathing space. Despite a last try from Joanna Grisez, the French team lost 29-26 and lost its third final in a circuit tournament, against Australia who had eliminated it in the semi-finals in Dubai at the occasion of the first meeting of the season.
