The track and field team from C. Milton Wright wins the UCBAC Susquehanna Division titles.

Hill ran the 100 meter race in 13.16 seconds, a personal record, to win by 0.03 seconds over Joppatowne’s Blessany Turner. In the 200 meter race, the junior from CMW finished with a time of 27.13 seconds, beating Perryville’s Ayva Jacobs by 1.5 seconds.

Blake Stevens guided Perryville to a runner-up finish. The senior athlete achieved personal records in both the long jump with a distance of 20-5 and the triple jump with a distance of 42-10. The team from Perryville, consisting of Jayden Byard, Hasani Baynes, Dylan Sayer, and Sean Beard, claimed victory in the 4×200 meter relay with a time of 1:39.89.

The Mustangs earned an additional 30 points by securing victories in three relay races. Shania Hill, Elliana Haynes, Sarah Saunders, and Myah Hannie emerged triumphant in the 4×100 race with a time of 54.37. Bassham, Loper, Perry, and Carley Jehnert claimed the top spot in the 4×400 event with a time of 4:29.89. Meanwhile, Perry, Lilly Budelis, Johanna Tenaglia, and Jehnert dominated the 4×800 race with a time of 10:30.07.

Haillie Dry was the victor in the shotput and discus events, leading North East to dominate in the throwing category. She achieved a distance of 35-6 in the shotput and 108-2 in the discus. North East also claimed victory in the 400-meter race, with Elainen Ness finishing with a time of 1:04.73. The team placed fifth overall. Havre de Grace came in sixth, while Joppatowne, who had Turner, Jade Smith, Torri Stith, and Celena Watson on their 4×200 relay team, took seventh place.

Bo Manor placed third out of seven teams. Kenai Black came in first in the 3,200 with a time of 10:28.30, narrowly beating out Eryk Bender from Fallston and Robert Davis from Havre de Grace. Black also joined forces with Jason Wolfenden, Oliver Leader, and Zachary Jensen to win the 4×800 with a time of 9:01.66. The Eagles were also victorious in the 4×400, with Dain Lenz, Joseph Schoff, Jacob Seiple, and Saheed Council crossing the finish line in 3:38.62. They narrowly beat out Joppatowne’s anchor, Justin Naylor, by three-tenths of a second.

Bassham captured first place in her signature event, the 1,600-800 double, for the second time this season with impressive times of 5:21.07 and 2:27.95. In the 800, she led a sweep for CMW as Cameryn Loper finished in second with a time of 2:32.61 and Morgan Perry following closely behind with a time of 2:35.40.

The male members of CMW achieved victories courtesy of Alex Curry, Tim Kolawole, and Ben Silcox. Curry clocked a personal record of 15.49 to triumph in the 110 hurdles. Kolawole successfully cleared 6-2 in the high jump, earning his sixth win out of eight meets this season. Silcox claimed first place in the pole vault with a height of 11 feet, also setting a personal record.

Landon Krepps, a well-rounded senior sprinter, claimed victory in three competitions for CMW: the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.99 seconds, the 400-meter race in 50.91 seconds, and the 200-meter race in 22.33 seconds. Only the 100-meter race was a close call, with Hamed Diallo from Havre de Grace coming in second with a time of 11.27 seconds. Krepps also teamed up with Luciano Higgins, Mason Garnis, and Matt Lukcarry to win the 4×100-meter relay in 43.95 seconds.

CMW girls defeat 5 with help from Hill and Bassham.

On Tuesday, C. Milton Wright took home their first UCBAC Susquehanna Division title in track and field, winning in both the boys and girls categories.Naylor was a double winner, taking the 1,600 in 4:37.64 and the 800 in 2:06.54. Mecai Dudley added a win in the 300 hurdles (40.72) and a second-place finish, close behind Curry in the 110 hurdles. The Mariners scored 54 points for sixth place.

CMW had two individuals who won two events each: Shania Hill in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and Ellie Bassham in the 800-meter and 1,600-meter races. The Mustangs were crowned champions of the girls’ team with a total of 158 points.

Perryville’s sole victory was earned by Colbie Rondone in the 300 hurdles, with a time of 52.50 seconds. Despite this, they still managed to secure third place with a total score of 91 points. Bo Manor, on the other hand, had three winners, but only came in fourth with one point less than Perryville. The individual winners for Bo Manor were Abigail Barker in the 100 hurdles (17.79), Maya Stoneking in the high jump (4 feet 8 inches), and Briana Pollard in the long jump (15 feet 7 and a 1/2 inches).

The Eastern part of the region had control over the throwing events. Jacob Blankenship emerged victorious in both the discus and shot put categories with distances of 139-3 and 42-7 1/4 respectively, narrowly beating out Perryville’s Cy McCall who took second place in the shot put event.

Fallston came in second out of seven teams in the girls’ competition. Gabrielle Curriden was the winner of the pole vault, clearing 11 feet. She also earned 14 points for her team by placing second in the long jump and third in the high jump, contributing to Fallston’s total of 112 points. This boosted them from fifth place to second. Another victory for the Cougars was achieved by Gabriella Murphy, who ran the 3,200 meters in 11 minutes and 55.03 seconds. And Madeline Cox came out on top in the triple jump with a distance of 30 feet, 6 and a half inches.

Since the establishment of the UCBAC in 2005, the Mustangs have belonged to the Chesapeake Division. However, due to their recent victory in the lower division, they may move back to the Chesapeake Division this year.
