The plan was: There would be a league with 20 clubs. 15 clubs are always there, the 5 other clubs have to qualify. There have been many protests against these plans.
The Super League was intended to compete with the Champions League from the European Football Association UEFA. The reason was: The clubs wanted to earn even more money in the Super League. Several clubs from England, Italy and Spain should play in the Super League.
But there were very strong protests. Fans were also against the Super League. In the end, only the Spanish clubs FC Barcelona and Real Madrid wanted the Super League. It is unclear whether there will be a Super League at some point.
