With the appointment of Luis Enrique as PSG coach, Marco Verratti was invited for a change of scenery during the last summer transfer window. The Italian midfielder spoke on this subject, and confirms that the Spanish technician did not count on him at all despite his status as a locker room executive.
The PSG got a makeover last summer, with no less than twelve new recruits attracted by Luis Camposbut also the departure of certain executive elements of the workforce! Neymar, Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos or Marco Verratti were not retained by PSG, and the Italian midfielder revealed last October in the columns of L’EQUIPE that Luis Enrique had been at the origin of his transfer towardsAl-Arabiin Qatar, for €50M.
“He told me I wasn’t part of his plans”
“I am a sincere person, I say what I think. They did the same. At the restart, I had an interview with Luis Enrique, he told me that I was not part of his plans. He’s a great coach, he’s doing good things with PSG. I didn’t see it as a personal decision. I have never had enemies in life, I prefer clear things,” confides Marco Verratti, who therefore left the PSG after eleven years at the club.
“He wanted something new”
“He wanted to change, I had spent many years here, he wanted something new (…) I think Luis Enrique needed other players. I have nothing against him, we had very good relations. I trained every day to the max, he can’t say anything bad about me. Sometimes there are changes and that’s good too,” continues Verratti behind the scenes of his departure from PSGProvoked by Luis Enrique.
