From Cairo to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the fabulous destiny of wrestler Ibrahim Ghanem: “I give everything for France”

At the Christian-d’Oriola complex, at Insep, the fresh world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling (- 72 kg), in Belgrade, is honored by his federation and all the licensees of the France pole. However, nothing predestined him to find himself there, nor the framed photo of his global title to adorn one of the walls of the Steeve-Guénot wrestling room, alongside a dozen photos of the legends of French wrestling.

Ibrahim Ghanem was born in Cairo twenty-eight years ago. He joined France in 2018 before obtaining naturalization three years later. “At the end of 2017, I was ready to stop wrestling,” says Ibrahim. I was in conflict with the president of the Egyptian Federation. He disrespected me, spoke badly to me, all my internship requests were refused…”
