Uncertainty Surrounds Los Angeles Rams’ Starting Quarterback for Week 9 Clash with Green Bay Packers

The Los Angeles Rams are still uncertain about who will be the team’s starting quarterback when they face the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in Week 9 of the 2023 season.

The California team elevated Dresser Winn from the practice squad to the game roster to face the Packers because Sean McVay declared that Matthew Stafford’s availability will be evaluated during warm-ups. Winn is a 24-year-old rookie from Tennessee-Martin University who joined the Rams as a free agent after the 2023 draft.

Stafford suffered a right thumb injury during the Week 8 loss against the Dallas Cowboys. The quarterback did not practice all week and was listed as questionable in the latest injury report. After the injury, Brett Rypien had to finish the game.

Stafford’s numbers have not been the best since he has accumulated 2,070 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions after completing 166 of the 278 throws he has attempted. The Georgia graduate has been constantly punished by rival defenses since he has 19 sacks against him.

The other absences of the Rams against the Packers

On the Rams’ injury report, only two players are ruled out entirely: tight end Hunter Long with a hamstring injury and linebacker Ernest Jones with knee soreness. The other questionable players are offensive tackle Rob Havenstein (calf), wide receiver Puka Nacua (knee), cornerback Cobie Durant (shoulder) and defensive tackle Larrell Murchison (knee).
