Rugby: Erasmus returns as head coach of South Africa – Other Sports

Rassie Erasmus will return to his role as South Africa’s head coach. The announcement was made by the rugby federation of the 4-time world champion African country. Erasmus had been the coach of the Springboks at the World Cup won in 2019 in Japan, and after that success he had held the position of ‘Director of Rugby’ of the national team, alongside the new head coach Jacques Nienaber in managing the team.

South Africa, which also won the World Cup which ended last week in Paris with Nienaber, was looking for a new coach after Nienaber himself had announced, before the World Cup, that he would leave after the end of the tournament to go and coach Leinster in Ireland. And ‘Bokke’ assistant coach Felix Jones also said goodbye as he joined the England coaching staff.

Thus the time came for Erasmus to return fully, who also had offers from Ireland but preferred to return to lead the Springboks.
