Nenad Bjelica and Union Berlin Heading Towards Separation

Nenad Bjelica and Union Berlin could go their separate ways from summer.

The coach of the capital club is apparently on the verge of retirement. According to “Sport Bild”, the 52-year-old doesn’t have an easy time with those in charge at the club.

Although the “Irons” have temporarily improved to twelfth place, Union slipped back to 14th place after five games without a win. With three match days to go, the lead over the relegation place is only two points.

Weak offensive performance could be fatal

It’s not just the table situation that has the bosses frowning. Since Bjelica has been on the sidelines at Union Berlin, not much has progressed offensively. The Köpenick team only scored 14 goals under the Croatian’s leadership.

The focus is on the defense. After all, the club has only conceded 22 goals since Bjelica took over on matchday 14. Only Leverkusen and Dortmund have a better value.

If the Berliners keep the class, the ex-Austria coach’s coaching chair would still wobble. The Union bosses don’t see him as the right man for further development in the game.
