Ibrahim Sissoko’s Impressive Start at AS Saint-Étienne and Return to Mali National Team

Ibrahim Sissoko has had an excellent start to the season at AS Saint-Étienne. Landed with the difficult task of replacing Jean-Philippe Krasso, the center forward is following in his footsteps in terms of statistics with already 8 goals and an assist in 13 matches.

A remarkable and also noticed start to the season. Indeed, according to the Les Aigles du Mali account which is dedicated to the news of the national team and Malian players or of Malian origin, the Greens striker gave his agreement to the coach to return against Chad and the Central African Republic.

Two matches counting for the World Cup qualifiers. The first meeting will take place on November 17 and the second on November 20. Called up in 2022, he had not celebrated his first selection.

If this new call-up is confirmed, the possibility of seeing him leave during the next African Cup of Nations will increase. Saint-Étienne has several players likely to participate in the competition (Dylan Batubinsika, Benjamin Bouchouari, Karim Cisse). The departure of its most prolific striker would be a hard blow and could push the club to recruit for this position this winter.

Mali is in Group E of the next CAN which will take place in Ivory Coast alongside Tunisia, South Africa and Namibia.
