Jakarta – Some time ago, the new pair Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Rahmat Hidayat fought at the BWF World Tour Super 500 Japan Masters 2023.

Kevin/Rahmat’s steps ended in the round of 16. Appearing at the Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium, Kevin/Rahmat were overthrown by Chinese representatives He Ji Ting/Ren Xiang Yu in two straight games, Thursday 16 November.

Men’s Doubles Assistant Coach, Thomas Indratjaja gave an evaluation of Kevin/Rahmat’s performance. It was acknowledged that the men’s doubles performance did not meet expectations.

“Overall, the achievements in the men’s doubles sector at the Kumamoto Masters Japan 2023 did not meet expectations. Before leaving, we hoped that there would be a representative who would survive until the final rounds and become champion,” said Thomas, quoted from PBSI’s official statement, Monday 20 November.

“The result is that the Indonesian representatives were eliminated early. Indeed, the players’ performances must be evaluated, which did not meet expectations,” he added.

He said that Kevin/Rahmat had to build chemistry, because they had only appeared in two tournaments.

“For the new pair Kevin/Rahmat, they must be able to understand each other better because they have only appeared in two tournaments. Especially Rahmat must increase their power,” he said.

“He also needs to adapt to Kevin. His experience and the quality of his shots must also be improved. His speed must also be increased,” he said.
