The women’s ITF tournament will take place in Val Gardena from November 19th to November 25th. On today’s premiere day, the South Tyroleans knew how to impress.

Finja Matuella, just 14 years old, made her debut on the ITF stage today. She showed a strong performance and although she lost 6:2 6:1, she can be proud of having taken three games from Germany’s Karina Hofbauer.

Number seven seeded Laura Mair (WTA 697) from Wolkenstein defeated Inez Maria Kotlikova from the Czech Republic 6:4 6:1. After a balanced first set, Laura managed the break at 4:4 and then won the set. In the second set she stepped up her game and brought her opponent to her knees with hard groundstrokes, precise serves and clever stop balls. She has therefore qualified for the main draw and will play her first round match on Tuesday.

Marion Viertler prevailed against Sofia Selle.

In today’s last qualifying game, 17-year-old Sofia Selle from Cavalese and Marion Viertler from Silandro met. The South Tyrolean defeated the young Sofia Selle, who trains at TC Gherdëina in Wolkenstein, 6:3 6:2. She will meet Slovakia Sofia Milatova (WTA 702) in the second match after 11:00 on Monday in the last qualifying round.
