In the first practice at the Mexican GP, Verstappen was the fastest. The teams fielded young drivers – F1sport.cz

Max Verstappen set the fastest time in the first practice ahead of Alex Albon and Sergio Pérez.

Formula 1 has moved from Austin to one of the biggest cities in the world. The carousel of Formula 1 continues in Mexico.

In the first practice session, five teams fielded a third rider. They thus continue to fulfill the condition that they must give a chance to two drivers who have a maximum of two starts in F1 during the season.

Mercedes: Frederik Vesti Alpine: Jack Doohan Alfa Romeo: Theo Pourchaire Haas: Oliver Bearman AlphaTauri: Isack Hadjar

In the first two practice sessions, riders can also test the prototype of the C4 compound for next year. In Mexico, this hardness corresponds to a medium mixture.

Sainz was not well yesterday. His car was not good again today. After fifteen minutes and seven laps, he reported problems with the hydraulics and power steering. He slowly returned to the pits. Later, however, the Spaniard returned to the track.

Theo Pourchaire, on the other hand, struggled with problems with the gas pedal throughout the training session. In the end, no time passed.

Verstappen set the fastest time in the first practice ahead of Albon and Pérez.

20:59: Verstappen leads ahead of Albon. Leclerc put on the soft and moves to third.

20:56: Pourchaire is also having problems, he has not done a measured lap yet and is reporting problems with the gas pedal.

20:46: Norris reports engine problems again.

20:43: Sainz reports a problem with hydraulics….has problems with power steering and other things.

20:42: Hadjar returns, but Piastri reports that something fell from his car.

20:39: Hadjar complained about the functioning of the car, it is in the pits.

20:35: Piastri is the only one who rode on the normal medium compound and is the first so far.

20:33: Unmarked tires are prototypes…

20:33: Alonso’s Aston drives with a “garden”. He can properly test the latest news.

20:30: The air is 23 °C, the track 20 more.

20:30: Training begins…

20:28: The city of Mexico aka Ciudad de México is located more than 2000 meters above sea level. This affects… everything. From power units to brakes (we’ve often seen brake fires here) to resistance and downforce. Both are lower…

20:24: Pirelli brought to Mexico a grade of softer tires than last year – namely the three softest sets (C3, C4, C5). He believes this will lead to two pit stops on Sunday (last year there was one).

In addition, in Friday’s practice, the drivers will receive two sets of the C4 prototype for next year. But only after the weekend will it become clear whether Pirelli will homologate this compound and we will see it next year as well, or if it will stay with the old compound…

20:23: Although AlphaTauri fielded two rookies this year (De Vries, Lawson), they both drove in the same car. So Tsunoda has to let someone into his car as well.

20:20: The format is normal, but there are two differences. In the first practice, more teams will field a junior. Teams must put a driver who has a maximum of 2 grand prix in each car in one practice session. Some teams have gotten away with it in part just by having a rookie driving for them this year – it concerns Piastri, Sargeant and earlier in the season De Vries. So who will we see?

Mercedes: Frederik Vesti Alpine: Jack Doohan Alfa Romeo: Theo Pourchaire Haas: Oliver Bearman AlphaTauri: Isack Hadjar

20:20: The teams brought only a few new parts to Mexico.

20:19: After two weekends with sprints, we return to the classic format with three training sessions.

20:17: Welcome to the online broadcast of the first training session.
