Behrens, Führich, Andrich in the DFB team: Hunting for the Odonkor moment – Sport

National coach Julian Nagelsmann took the newcomers Behrens, Führich and Andrich with him on the US trip. He is not only pursuing a tactical plan, but also an atmospheric one.

When a footballer unexpectedly receives his first invitation to play for the German national team, it is never entirely clear what kind of relationship will develop. Sometimes such careers are short but very rewarding. The attacker David Odonkor, for example, has 16 international matches, but people still know him today because he ran over an opponent at the 2006 World Cup and then crossed the ball into the middle – an action that was accomplished in about three seconds and gave the DFB team the A late 1-0 winning goal against Poland and gave Odonkor a footnote in German football history. For such players there is the term “one-hit wonder”, which sometimes has a more and sometimes less affectionate connotation. A career hit is worth significantly more than having nothing comparable in your biography.
