Cus Camerino Experiences Growth in 2022-23 Sporting Season: A Year of Achievements and Expansion

The 2022-23 sporting season was an important year of growth for Cus Camerino, which saw a surge in membership, reaching 2,121 units last sporting year: almost 300 members more than the previous year, with a substantial increase between Unicam students and children under 18.

These are the data that emerged from the annual meeting of the university sports club. Thanks to an increasingly wider range of competitive sections, now consolidated in 10 disciplines: athletics, five-a-side football, judo, basketball, volleyball, winter sports, tennis/padel, table tennis, archery and sport climbing. Added to these are the other activities managed by Cussini instructors such as beach volleyball, chess, fitness and weightlifting and e-sports. The Cus also showed itself in 2023, the year in which it hosted the national university championships, a reference reality in Italy, with a constant commitment in 15 national university disciplines. In these home championships, 12 medals were won, including golds for Elena Tangherlini in foil and Marco Cruciani in mountain running. Then comes the silver at the European Judo University Championships 57-63 kilos for Carlotta Avanzato, up to the apotheosis of the Universiade in Chengdu. Seven Unicam students are on the roster of the Italian national volleyball champion, in addition to the gold here too for Elena Tangherlini, who confirms herself as international queen in foil.

But in addition to being a competitive reality of excellence, Cus has established itself in recent years as a hub for organizing events: from CuSnow days to the Montelago eco trail, with an eye also on the social aspect, with initiatives such as the Phoenix Festival and participation in Just The Woman I Am. As per tradition, the assembly was also an opportunity to reward some athletes, coaches and managers for their achievements: Leonardo Meschini and Marco Zitelli for athletics; Sara Borsella and Giorgio Pranzetti for volleyball; Vanina Pazzini, Alberto Massimi, Alberto Paoletti, Pietro Quacquarini, Leonardo Rinozzi and Davide Tiberi for basketball; Erica Biaggi for alpine skiing; Andrea Calce and Matteo Carlini for archery; Andrea Capradossi and Sandro Materazzi for 5-a-side football; Marzia Comparelli and Matteo Belardinelli in table tennis.

The presence of the mayor of Camerino Roberto Lucarelli and the delegate for sport and well-being Filippo Maggi is important, while the rector of Unicam Graziano Leoni is directly present in all the activities of the Unicam Sports Committee. Collaboration also with the Region thanked in the person of the vice-president of the council, Gianluca Pasqui.
