MotoGP in India amidst bureaucratic difficulties and delays

The trip to India, where the MotoGP will race next weekend, is experiencing various complications. The Indian bodies responsible for dealing with work visas have literally become overwhelmed in recent days. The result is that there were still some teams and some professionals who were rejected when boarding their respective flights because they did not have a regular entry visa. There are those who, once they finally obtained the visa, had to fall back on other flights and reached India late. Dorna and Irta (the Teams’ association) have set up a sort of emergency task force in support of the Indian organization to speed up the release procedures and to prevent men and teams not yet in possession of a visa, but with the flight imminent, they do not find themselves in the unpleasant situation of having to postpone their departure or in the worst case scenario of having to stay at home.

Tardozzi: “The layout of the track is wonderful”

MotoGP had already faced Indian bureaucracy in recent months for the complicated procedure through which the riders paid the Indian tax authorities a tax corresponding to a fraction of their salary. The practice is also popular in other countries around the world where the tax regime provides for it, but with fewer complications. The Buddh circuitin the Uttar Pradesh region, near New Delhi, it is still awaiting approval by the FIM that should happen on Thursday. An implicit confirmation from the words to Sky Sport of Davide Tardozzi (Ducati), after a walking tour of the track: “The track layout is wonderful. Everything seems fine to me, even the asphalt which is clean and intact. An excellent job was done for safety at the last two corners (from Capirossi, ed.) which caused the curves to be modified a little to have apex points compatible with safety“. The last visit of a world event to the Indian circuit dates back to 2013 when F1 raced at the end of a three-year series of Grands Prix.
