Ratcliffe tells Fernandes which player he wants to build Manchester United around

Everything indicates that Bruno Fernandes will remain at Manchester United. Erik ten Hag’s star player recently indicated to the Portuguese branch of DAZN that he was considering leaving England after this season, but Fernandes has now informed his employer that he wants to stay in Manchester, reports David Ornstein on behalf of The Athletic.
The conversation between the Portuguese and the Manchester United management took place last week. Both Fernandes and the club indicated that they hoped for a longer collaboration.
Manchester United have told their captain that they see him as a hugely important value and that is why INEOS, Jim Ratcliffe’s company which has owned the club since the beginning of this year, is said to be planning to build the squad around Fernandes. That plan apparently did not sound bad to the attacking midfielder, as he himself indicated that he wanted to stay.
Fernandes did add one comment. He wants to compete for trophies with Manchester United. “Fernandes will want to see evidence that this is feasible and if he is dissatisfied, his departure cannot be completely ruled out,” Ornstein wrote.
The British journalist also reports that Fernandes may still leave if an offer is made for him that ‘United must accept financially’. Nevertheless, a transfer does not seem to be an option for the time being.
Metamorphosis
While Fernandes will be able to be admired in the red jersey of Manchester United for at least another year, this does not necessarily apply to a lot of other selection players. The club is reportedly working on a significant metamorphosis within the first team and even Ten Hag’s position is not completely certain.
Someone who is guaranteed to leave is Raphaël Varane. The French centre-back will run out of contract next summer and will not renew it. Casemiro is not having his strongest run this season and, according to Fabrizio Romano, is in the interest of several teams from Saudi Arabia. A departure of the Brazilian controller is likely.
