Without the injured superstar Lionel Messi, Inter Miami lost the final of the US Open Cup against Houston Dynamo 1-2 on Wednesday evening (local time) and missed the second title in the team’s history.
Messi sat in the stands and watched the final defeat from a box. Jordi Alba also couldn’t play. Of the trio of former Barcelona players, only Sergio Busquets was on the field.

All three moved to Miami in the summer and turned the worst team in Major League Soccer into a title contender. In August there was a win against Nashville SC in the Leagues Cup final and the first trophy for co-owner David Beckham’s team. In the Major League Soccer (MLS), Miami still has a chance of making it into the play-offs.
