The 57th Final of the Quebec Games ended Saturday evening with a closing ceremony with a maritime theme. For the conclusion of the largest multi-sport event in Quebec, athletes, coaches and supporters from the 19 regions of Quebec gathered at the Colisée Financière Sun Life. It was basketball and soccer player Jasmine Zahra from Rimouski who led the way and carried the Eastern Quebec flag as the delegation entered.
Athletes from the region collected 24 medals during the Quebec Games in Rimouski, including eight gold, nine silver and seven bronze. The region also earned a Banner of Excellence and a Banner of Sportsmanship.

Before the Final ended with the closing ceremony, the head of delegation Josée Longchamps gave a very positive assessment of the organization. “2023 is a year that we will not soon forget in Eastern Quebec! After Rivière-du-Loup, it is Rimouski’s turn to take up its organizational challenge. Our athletes had an unforgettable experience on several levels. The facilities and services for participants were up to the task of preparing the athletes for this unique event,” underlines head of delegation Josée Longchamps.
She is also delighted with the great performances of some athletes from Témiscouata.

Madame Longchamps is also proud of what she has seen on the competition sites and in the results. “We were treated to historic rankings in team sports with a 4th position in women’s basketball and a 6th place in women’s soccer. Juliane Thériault’s Quebec Games record in the 800m in athletics will remain in our memories for a very long time. Congratulations to all the athletes and the Organizing Committee! », she mentions
Finally, note that this was only the second time in the history of the Quebec Games, and a first in 40 years, that the same region successively hosted two Quebec Games Finals.
