Eintracht Frankfurt meets interesting but beatable opponents in the group stage of the Conference League. For the Hessians it goes to Greece, Finland and Scotland.

Eintracht Frankfurt were drawn into feasible opponents in the group stage of the Conference League this year. The Hessians meet in Group G against PAOK Saloniki, HJK Helsinki and Aberdeen FC. That was the result of the UEFA draw in Monaco on Friday.

“These are opponents that we should respect, but we are the favourites,” said coach Dino Toppmöller early on Friday evening. Sports director Markus Krösche sees it similarly: “It’s a good, exciting group. We’re sportively capable of surviving the group phase and that’s our goal too.”

Final in Athens

The first game day of the Conference League takes place on September 21st, the sixth and last game day on December 14th. The group winners go directly to the round of 16 (7th and 14th March), the runners-up have to go into a play-off round against a group third from the Europa League (15th and 22nd February). The final will take place on May 29th at the Agia Sofia Stadium in Athens.

Eintracht qualified for the group stage on Thursday evening after beating Bulgarian outsiders Levski Sofia 2-0 in the play-off second leg.
