École Marcelle-Mallet: Fostering Innovation, Leadership, and Excellence in Education

Located in Old Lévis, the school serves a vast territory and offers transportation to students from as far away as Bellechasse, Nouvelle-Beauce and Laurier-Station.

The Marcelle Mallet school makes it a point to support students, not only in their studies, but also in their personal development. It is essential for the management that the students develop their self-confidence. To do this, we encourage them to try, even if it means making mistakes and starting over. We want young people to imagine, try, and say to themselves “why not”? Everyone is encouraged to take action and make possible what at first sight seems impossible. By accompanying them in this way, the team of teachers helps them to develop their intrinsic talents, their confidence and, by the same token, their character.

The private establishment offers four very distinct courses that encompass the various tastes and affinities of the students. Called Leader Programs, the paths in question are: Techno-scientific Leader, International Leader, Creative Leader and Athlete Leader. Through a playful approach, each of these courses emphasizes very specific aspects and allows young people to learn through motivating and enriching activities. For example, the Creative Leader helps develop the ability to find solutions to problems experienced by the community, through imagination and achievement. Artistic creation workshops, educational trips with a cultural flavor, multimedia and photography are some of the elements unique to this concentration. Resolutely turned towards the future, the Techno-scientific Leader offers an atypical career combining science and technology. We learn, among other things, the basics of coding and young people familiarize themselves with the scientific world.

The academic path of the students of this unique establishment is at the same time theoretical, practical and fun. Mr. Robin Bernier, Director General, explains that by focusing on many extracurricular activities, we allow students to learn differently and to be fulfilled in activities for which they are gifted, which interest them or, quite simply, which arouse their curiosity. The establishment offers young people the opportunity to practice many sports, including deck hockey, badminton, basketball, volleyball. Moreover, the school has 23 sports teams! Half of the students in the private educational establishment practice a sport. The arts and music are not left out. The Drumline, percussion line in a brass band, is practiced there by about 25 students. Thanks to this initiative of the music teacher passionate about drums, the musicians take part in numerous competitions and activities. The Sentinelles team won the Provincial Cup for this discipline for the 2022-2023 school year! What’s more, there are plans to extend the Drumline’s activities to Ontario in the near future and the event organizer, Gestev, regularly calls on the Sentinels to encourage the runners of the Lévis half-marathon.

École Marcelle-Mallet, recognized as an exemplary learning environment that fosters innovation, leadership and excellence, offers its students a highly technological environment. As such, in 2009 the establishment created the One student, one laptop program, followed in 2015 by obtaining the Apple Certified School designation; a distinction rarely awarded to a French-speaking North American establishment!

Marcelle-Mallet School invites families to participate in the open house on September 24, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registrations will take place on October 14 and 15.
