“In London, after everything that was said and done, we all had a great time together, both teams. It was amazing to also see all the players, all their teams relaxing. It was fantastic,” explains Roger Federer in an interview with Eurosport about his withdrawal more than a year ago at the Laver Cup held in London.
“You secretly like being the center of attention, but at the same time, it doesn’t matter anymore. It’s fine the way it is now. Of course, I miss seeing the happy faces of the people I hope I was able to entertain. The circuit was good for me. I loved every moment of it, but now I am happily retired,” explains the Swiss about what he misses most about the competition.

“For us it is very important to pass from generation to generation. At events like these, Jim Courier, Tim Henman, Todd Woodbrige, tennis legends join the action. You walk with them in the hallways, you can talk to them. It’s great to bring together the sport’s greatest from every level of generations, especially when you’re a young player. That was my wish, that you can learn as much from your rivals as from your captain. It should be a catalyst for when you get back on track. Looking back, for me the Laver Cup was always one of the best weeks of the year without a doubt,” explains Roger Federer, who remembers those fun moments in the competition.
