PONS Racing leaves the Motorcycle World Championship after 42 years and Sito Pons faces a new era

The PONS Racing team, created and directed by the Spanish ex-driver Sito Pons, has already confirmed that it will leave the Moto2 World Championship at the end of this season, after having participated for 42 years in the highest motorcycling championship and having won five titles for drivers, along with to three other team titles.

With 71 victories and more than 230 podiums to date, PONS Racing will leave the intermediate category of the World Championship based on “a thoughtful decision” and “with enormous satisfaction for the good work done”, as specified this Saturday. in his press release.

“Throughout these years in Moto2, the team has been one of the protagonists of the championship and the best riders currently competing in MotoGP have passed through it”, alluded to the brothers Pol and Aleix Espargaró, Fabio Quartararo, Maverick Viñales, Alex Rins and Augusto Fernández. “Without a doubt, he has contributed to the development of all of them and together they achieved great success,” the note added.

As of 2024, the PONS Racing places will become the property of the MT Helmets-MSi team in the Moto3 category, a team owned by Teo Martín, ensuring the continuity of the majority of PONS Racing personnel, one of the premises for that acquisition will take place.
