Gabe Kapler Suspended and Fined for Dugout Return After Ejection

San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler was suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for returning to the dugout following his ejection from Thursday’s game in the fourth inning , against the Tampa Bay Rays at Oracle Park.

Kapler will serve his suspension Friday night as the Giants begin a road streak against the Atlanta Braves.

The manager was ejected from Thursday’s game by referee Chad Whitson for arguing against a called out on a high shot against Wade Meckler. It was Kapler’s second ejection this season, and the seventh of his career. The Giants won the game 7-0.

The Giants (64-57) are 10.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Nationals West Division and have lost eight of their last 11 games. However, they remain 1.5 games ahead in the race for a spot in the National.

Since July 18, the Giants have won just 10 of their 26 games.
