The IndyCar season enters its final stretch and this Sunday in St. Louis, Palou will have his first opportunity to be crowned for the second time

He needs to distance himself by seven and three points, respectively, from his direct rivals for the title Scott Dixon y Josef Newgarden

Alex Palou faces his first ‘match ball’ for the IndyCar title this weekend, which would be the second in his record after the one he won in 2021. The driver from San Antoni de Vilamajor reaches the final sprint of the season, with the last three consecutive races in St. Louis, Portland and Laguna Seca with an advantage of 101 points over Scott Dixon and 105 regarding Josef Newgarden. There are 162 points left at stake and everything points to Palou as the great favourite.

To be crowned this Sunday, Palou needs to get ahead of Dixon and Newgarden in St. Louis. He has to distance himself by seven and three points respectively. If you raise your income to 108 points, you will be champion.

In the United States they point out that perhaps the lawsuit by McLaren and Zak Brawn against Alex could be a destabilizing factor for the driver, but his rivals know that it will hardly affect him enough to play spectacularly in the three grand prix that lie ahead.

Palou will not have it easy on his first attempt. He will have to serve a six-place grid penalty for changing the engine of the Ganassi Racing car. And the race (Sunday, 9:30 p.m., Movistar Deportes) is held in the oval of the World Wide Technology Raceway, an atypical circuit and one that is not among the best at it.
