Belgium Falls to Serbian Dominance in Last Group Match at European Championship

The Belgian volleyball women also lost their last group match at the European Championship with 0-3. World champion Serbia turned out to be more than a size too big, especially since the Yellow Tigers left star player Britt Herbots to rest, with a view to Sunday’s 1/8th final against Turkey.

The Yellow Tigers knew that it would be difficult to pick up something against the world champion – without Britt Herbots, who let her abs rest.

The Belgians had not hoped that Serbia simply continued on its indestructible momentum with their basic players.

After a few minutes it became clear that Serbia was a size too big. Chief striker Boskovic popped in a ball over the Belgian block to indicate the difference.

But as the Tigers’ DNA dictates, the Belgian women still fought for every ball. That even resulted in a tie at the start of set 3.

Pauline Martin and Manon Stragier seized their chance to show the national coach that they are an added value offensively. Defensively, the Belgians had it a lot more difficult.

Center player Popovic, who flirted with the highest distinction in terms of scoring percentage, hit one ball after another against the floor of the top sports hall.

After more than an hour of volleyball, the 3-0 numbers were clear. The Yellow Tigers better forget this game in view of Sunday’s 1/8th final against Turkey.
