Liam Everts (18), son of, conquers his very first GP victory in Germany: “One hundred to go” | Motocross

Liam Everts (KTM) won his first Grand Prix in motocross on Sunday at the age of 18. In Germany, Stefan Everts’ son finished second in MX2’s first moto before winning second. The 16-year-old Lucas Coenen won the first series very well, but had to deal with bad luck in series 2.

Another Belgian top talent, 16-year-old Lucas Coenen (Husqvarna), won the first moto and was in the lead in the second, until he suffered mechanical problems in the tenth of eighteen laps.

He thus saw his first Grand Prix victory through the nose and finished seventh. Jago Geerts (Yamaha), 13th and 7th in the heats, was ninth, Sacha Coenen (KTM), the twin brother of Lucas, was thirteenth (10th and 13th in the heats). But they were all in the shadow of Liam Everts.

“The last minutes felt like an eternity. But I felt good and knew I had to keep the rhythm. Hard work pays off. Still a hundred victories to go”, Everts joked after the finish, with a nod to the 101 GP victories from his father.

“Hard work pays off.” 100 more wins to go.

The Italian Andrea Adamo (KTM) finished second in the Grand Prix thanks to a third and a second place and thus took over the lead in the championship from the Dutchman Kay de Wolf (Husqvarna). He rode to two eleventh places, hampered by an ankle injury, also his place in the GP.

In the World Cup standings, Adamo has 405 points thirteen points ahead of Frenchman Thibaut Benistant (Yamaha), third in France. Geerts, who missed two Grands Prix due to a broken wrist, is fifth with 341 points, just ahead of Everts (329). Lucas Coenen (255) is eighth.

Prado reigns supreme in MXGP

In the MXGP, Spaniard Jorge Prado (GasGas) was the best. Prado already held off the competition in qualifying on Saturday, good for 10 points, and was crowned winner in both heats on Sunday, earning him 50 units.

Dutchman Glenn Coldenhoff (Yamaha) and Spaniard Ruben Fernandez (Honda) completed the podium. Jeffrey Herlings (KTM) had to settle for 23rd after a crash in the second race.

Jeremy van Horebeek (Honda) celebrated his comeback with a ninth place in the final standings in Germany. The Belgian returned from retirement to replace Latvian Pauls Jonass, who is out after tearing his ligaments.

Prado extends his lead in the overall ranking. He already gathered 453 points. The Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings (KTM) is the first pursuer with 385 units.
