Successes and Setbacks: Highlights from the Colombo International Trophy Judo Tournament

Two intense days dedicated to Judo brought almost two thousand athletes to the Ligurian capital for the prestigious Colombo International Trophy, now in its 34th edition. The important trophy is part of the Cadet and Junior Grand Prix circuit for assigning scores to athletes in the national ranking list.

The Imperia association OK CLUB, which has always been present at this very important event, presents itself at the trip with four under 18 athletes, Giulio Brezza, Marco Corigliano, Giacomo and Francesca Sini and an under 21 athlete Valle Andrea. For everyone, very tough encounters, carried out with the utmost commitment, but unfortunately without obtaining the desired results, things went better for Francesca Sini who, in her first year in the difficult cadet category, took home an honorable 5th place.

On Sunday the first competitive categories of the under 13 and under 15 rookies also take to the tatami in which the OK CLUB fields 13 strong athletes: Beatrice Ballerano, Greta Buetto, Justin Celislami, Samuele D’Angelo, Cesare Decanis, Andrea Di Maria, Matteo Guglieri, Sofia Haddan, Mohamed Hamdi, Nour Hamdi, Andrea Potenza, Marco Torresan and Lorenzo Zinghinì.

For everyone there was great commitment, determination and a good race approach which demonstrated the good work done in training. Worth noting are the good performances of Greta Buetto and Sofia Haddan who won the gold medal, Andrea Di Maria who in a difficult category ranked in second position with a well-deserved silver and a good performance which earned third place and the bronze medal for Matteo Guglieri, Nour Hamdi and Lorenzo Zinghinì.
