Challenges in handball, spectacle guaranteed with pole dancing and skateboarding… Your sports weekend in Île-de-France

It’s almost the end of the season, the sun has finally returned, and good habits don’t change: sport continues to occupy your weekends. Le Parisien offers a selection of issues and details the events not to be missed in Île-de-France. Overview.

The matches not to be missed: Tremblay and Pontault in the race for the climb, PSG close to the title

HANDBALL. Decisive weekend for Ile-de-France professional clubs. In Proligue, two of the three clubs in the region will play the rise in Starligue. The semi-finals of the playoffs begin this Saturday in Dijon with Pontault, opposed in the middle of the afternoon (3:15 p.m.) to Saran, already assured of playing higher but who will seek to bring back the national title in Burgundy. At 6 p.m., Tremblay will also try to qualify for the final which will take place on Sunday (3:15 p.m.). A difficult task since it will be against the local team. Knowing that only the winner of the final (or simply Saran’s opponent if the latter qualifies) will get the coveted sesame.

In Starligue, if PSG beat Nantes at Coubertin this Friday, it will win its ninth consecutive title, the tenth in its history. For its part, Créteil has already ensured its maintenance thanks to Ivry (winner this Thursday at Cesson-Rennes), who also remains in the Elite.

La Cigale, the place to be too

POLE DANCE. The French Pole Dance Championship, of which this is the 14th edition, is back at La Cigale (18th) this Saturday, from 7 p.m. As every year, the medalists of the evening will qualify for the World Pole Arts Championships POSA (Pole Sports and Art Federation) which will take place in December, in Italy.

Pole dancing has been part of the disciplines of the French Dance Federation for several years. It is also considered as an aerial art and a sport in its own right while being present in various shows of the famous Cirque du Soleil. Many circus artists and former gymnasts have come to enrich its practice, making it a young discipline in constant evolution in its different styles.

In the Spotlight: We Love Green

SKATEBOARD. This weekend is We Love Green, a French electro-pop music festival. For the first time in its history, a real XXL skatepark will be installed in the middle of the Parc de Vincennes, around a line-up anchored in its time. This stage will be partially open to the general public to take advantage of the infrastructure, take lessons or attend demonstrations. All eyes will be on the Vert Ramp, a gigantic skateboard ramp installed at the heart of this new playground: 18 m wide, 21 m long and 4 m high.

The 6 skateboarders are invited under the aegis of Édouard Damestoy, the world’s best specialist in the discipline. He just won the gold medal at the X Games in Japan two weeks ago (the first Frenchman to win gold). The world champion since 2019 will most likely qualify for the 2024 Olympics.

Young people towards consecration

VOLLEY. Two weeks after the historic crowning of their team under 15 in the boys’ category, Le Plessis-Robinson is again seeking the title of Champion of France this weekend on the occasion of the finals of the Coupe de France for the under 21s ( which act as the French Championship), in Rezé (Loire-Atlantique). In the men’s competition, the Plessis, therefore, but also the PUC and the Amicale Camou Paris will defend the chances of the Ile-de-France region. The girls from Saint-Cloud qualified for the women’s finals in Saint-Jean-d’Illac.

The number: 1

BASKET. Like the number of matches that separates Poissy from a rise in National 1. Winners on the floor of the Alsatians of Vogesia Holtzheim (63-79), last weekend during the quarter-final first leg of N2, the Yvelines players can officially get their sesame for the upper floor. A return to the top for this emblematic club of French basketball, former resident of Pro B, where players like Thierry Rupert or JD Jackson have evolved. In the event of a setback, Poissy will have to play a third match to win his ticket to the N1.
